Reflection
When choosing a topic on my paper I
wanted to write about something that had an impact on many people like me and
could even affect me. As a business major I felt that income inequality could
come up in some of my future classes and maybe even be an issue that has an
effect on my job. Income inequality because it is affecting many people around
the Detroit area and the entire United States. I wanted to learn more about how
income inequality was caused and the effect it is having on the economy. My
paper was written to educate people on the issue of income inequality and
explain to them how they must be the ones to put an end to this problem.
At the beginning of my writing process I
researched the issue of income inequality and compared that to the information
that we discussed in class. Next, I made a mind map to organize all my facts
and ideas by the order of government, community, and economy. I then used my
mind map to create an outline for my paper. The outline helped me better
organize my paper and helped me stay on topic. I then wrote my final draft and
had it peer edited as well as reviewed it myself. I started my writing process
right when the paper was assigned so I had plenty of time to edit my paper and
correct many mistakes.
Looking back on this semester Composition
105 has allowed me to further develop my writing skills. Before this class I would
just be writing my papers from scratch without planning out my ideas first. I also
learned new styles of writing and analysis. One very helpful part of this class
was the peer revision. It really helped getting someone else’s perspective on your
paper. Comp 105 has also educated me on present day issues that are happening in
the world and has shown me the importance of the community.
